The relationship between Bremen and Turkey
bremen 90 years 5The key players here are, for example, Bremen Economic Development, the University of Bremen, which cooperates with Ege University in Izmir, and the Bremen-Izmir Association for the Promotion of Town Twinning. V., which promotes exchange between the two cities in areas such as education, science, technology, sport and health.
Another example of the good contacts is a discussion event that recently took place at the Hanover Fair 2013. Bremen Economic Development (WFB) is also represented with a Bremeninvest office directly on site in Izmir.
bremen 90 years 6The almost three million people of Turkish origin living in Germany, of whom just over half have German citizenship, are an important factor in bilateral relations. Added to this is the strong appeal of Türkiye as a travel and holiday destination.
Germany traditionally enjoys a high reputation in Turkey. Relations between the two countries are friendly, complex and resilient. This enables trusting and constructive cooperation, even on controversial issues. The lively exchange of high-level visits is also an expression of the intensive bilateral relations.
