Unexpected encounter with a Mango Velomobile
- Written by Portal Editor
Often there are the unexpected things in the course of the day that lead to an exciting encounter or the literal "salt in the soup", such as in the case of the Mango Velomobile parked in a parking lot, a fully covered, everyday bike that can function as sporty Velomobile too.
The Mango Velomobile, as used in our case, is very good for the way to work and is also really fun in your free time. Admittedly, the Mango Sport is no longer the right choice for use in serious velomobile races, especially in time trials and record hunts. There are other velomobile manufacturers with faster vehicles.
A little introduction to the Mango Velomobile
The Mango is a very light-weight velomobile in a compact size and with a turning circle of just 8 meters suitable for everyday use and a generous amount of space inside, which you would not expect from the outside.
Benefits of the mango
- High tipping safety due to low centre of gravity and wide track
- All three wheels with one-sided suspension
- Full suspension with independent suspension for each wheel
- Very good weather protection with the Sinner Tour hood (Tourcap)
- More safety through integrated rollover protection
- Almost any standard switching group can be integrated
- Upgrading to an e-velomobile is not a problem
- Narrow 8m turning circle ideal for city traffic
The racing hood as an additional module
With the tour cap on and the visor closed, not just the aerodynamics of the mango is in top condition, but also the weather protection is almost perfect. Rain has practically no way of hitting the driver. Theoretically, it would work if it hits the side openings with strong cross winds. In the velomobile, the weather only plays a minor role.
It becomes disadvantageous at high temperatures. Visor and openings help to circulate air, but a lot of heat builds up in the velomobile and only the openings on the hood are not enough to achieve a comfortable temperature in summer. That is why most velomobile drivers do without the Tourcap when the outside temperature is pleasant.
