Spirit of Christmas in Kitzingen - it is shinning!
- Written by Portal Editor
An evening stroll through the city was announced - once again the route should pass the old Main bridge, whose first construction dates back to the 14th century and which was rebuilt in 1955 to give more space to the shipping on the Main river.
Across the city and here in the picture recognizable, the Catholic parish church "St. John the Baptist" in the background; The Catholic cross-chapel is a work by Balthasar Neumann, whose ground plan once adorned the former 50-DM note.
The old Main Bridge carries a stone sculpture with the inscription: "Do not forget our prisoners of war, abducted and missing", a motto that is again gaining in importance, but this time should be more related to migrants and refugees from other nations.
So we should all have enjoyed the indescribable happiness of the last decades in relative peace and enjoy the lights of the city, as we do when crossing the river Main.
Due to nearly no waves on the Main, the facades of houses were reflecting from the water, what a beauty. In just a few days it will be time again in Kitzingen that around the largest Advent candle of Bavaria, the irradiated Market Tower, there will decorated stalls again.
With the motto "Everything you need before the festivities", exhibitors from near and far will be able to offer beautiful, individual, lovable things and craftsmanship.
At the moment, there are already a few booths on the market, but they are not yet to be understood as a Christmas market. Although there is a small donkey zoo next to the sales booths for mulled wine and punch, but the magic of the Christmas is missing, which is perhaps due to the lack of snow.
Under the motto "Kitzingen glows" the Christmas market takes place from 9th to 11th of December. Around the illuminated Advent candle the market square spreads from over parts of the Kaiserstraße up to the Old Main bridge.
For the most spirited pre-Christmas shopping atmosphere, sections of Kaiserstraße will be closed for traffic this weekend. More than twice as many exhibitors as in previous years offer a high-quality range of arts and culinary specialties.
An attractive, cultural supporting program will accompany the Christmas market.
