"Formula 1" in Istanbul enjoys high popularity both among the pilots and fans. Since the opening of track in 2005, tens of thousands of tourists and fans of racing from around the world come here to cheer for their pilots.
Of course, this city would never have been called Istanbul if it didn’t give a unique opportunity to combine several types of recreation. Therefore, a fan of Formula 1, who came to Istanbul for the competition, can get acquainted with the history of the city, its stunning monuments and urban life.
Sultanahmet
It is hard to believe, but it will take you just an hour and a half from Istanbul Formula 1 track to the historic center of Istanbul, Sultanahmet district! It is difficult to find a city in the world, where the track was so close to residential areas. In this case all environmental requirements and safety measures are met. There’s a bus route between Sultanahmet and the track.
Hotels
Of course, you will have to live somewhere. But this is not a problem in Istanbul. Even the Karaköy area, which is considered to be a suburb of Istanbul, is full of decent hotels. Moreover, one big hotel company (we do not name it in order to avoid accusations of advertising) plans to open a chain of hotels in Karaköy namely for guests of Formula 1. Well, now you can enjoy the hotels, which are already open in Karaköy. Typically, there are four star hotels, designed to stay in groups.
Turkey is around
By the way, Karakoy district, where race is held on a modern track made of five special coatings, provides a wonderful opportunity to see the whole Turkey. How? It's simple! The Sabiha Gökcen Airport is located here. It offers flights for domestic airlines. And if you have a free day or two, then go to this airport and fly to Cappadocia. This is an amazing place, which incredible lunar landscape, underground cities and cave monasteries destroy all the stereotypes about Turkey. Even if you still have them after a visit to Istanbul.
Food
If you are staying at a hotel, there will be no problem with the food. The food in Istanbul hotels is so abundant, that it is usually enough for breakfast and dinner. In an extreme case, if hungry, you can have a meal in one of the many restaurants in the area, or in the old city, where you can go after the race. Smoke hookah, drink coffee, try Turkish cuisine and, finally, relax after the excitement of races...
