This year's metropolitan music and social event will feature the British star Raye, who made history by taking home six awards at this year's Brit Awards. Over three days in June at the Prague Exhibition Grounds, audiences can also expect other big names such as Milky Chance, Michael Kiwanuka, Tom Grennan, The Last Dinner Party, The Blaze, and many more.
Tickets are currently on sale at www.metronome.cz.
Metronome Prague 2024 will bring one of the hottest stars of pop music to Prague. British singer Raye
The audience at Metronome Prague will enjoy a very current program. It will be capped off by one of today's biggest music stars, British singer Raye. Remarkable for the seventh edition is that, although it's a youthful program, it naturally continues the musical events that Metronome Prague has offered in the past: „When RAYE recently allowed the audience in the sold-out London O2 arena to vote with applause from different generations, the applause showed that the audience's representation from 15 to 60 years old was very evenly distributed. It's very likely to be the same at this year's Metronome. Cult favorite KOSHEEN will celebrate 25 years in the scene, while MICHAEL KOCÁB will mark his 70th birthday. We're bringing beloved MILKY CHANCE to the viewers, popular singer TOM GRENNAN, fresh Brit Awards recipient THE LAST DINNER PARTY, and CMAT. The rap scene features its stars with original MARC REBILLET, cult favorite THE GHETTS, jazzy AYRTN, Czech rappers JAMES COLE and REDZED. We're excited for NOBODYLISTEN with ANNET X and the luxurious electro project THE BLAZE. And on top of that, we confirm: Raye's debut in Prague and right at Metronome, 80 musical performances will rock our metropolis, and we're really looking forward to it!" said David Gaydečka, the producer.
Singer and songwriter Raye has been taking the music scene by storm in recent years. Before breaking through as a singer, she wrote songs for successful artists such as Beyoncé, Rihanna, John Legend, and Ellie Goulding. Her 2022 single "Escapism" became very popular on the social network TikTok and topped the charts. In the following year, even greater success came with the song "Prada" from her debut album "My 21st Century Blues." This year, she made history at the Brit Awards, turning seven nominations into six awards, the most in history. Among other things, she became the first woman to win the award for Best Composer. In addition to Raye, festival-goers can also look forward to other British artists.
The lineup includes renowned names from around the world such as The Blaze, Marc Rebillet, Meute, Milky Chance, Dadi Freyr, Allysha Joy, and CMAT. Also worth mentioning is the planned celebration of Michael Kocáb's birthday, the performance of Czech rising star Sofian MedjMedj with friends, a concert by the domestic indie-pop group Lake Malawi, the band We Are Domi, and Czech rapper Rohony.
Organizers have currently announced the complete lineup, which is available at www.metronome.cz.
Courage and Future
The international team of professionals from the music industry is working on creating the program for the Metronome festival, allowing for the introduction of many current innovations to Prague. Alongside the main music program, the Metronome festival also focuses on creating a quality non-musical program, this year intertwining themes of courage and the future.
„The entire festival is being prepared so that every part of it makes sense from start to finish. Important performances do not overlap, allowing visitors to experience the most significant musical moments calmly. Moreover, since the first edition, we have been striving to operate with a natural inclination towards sustainability – ecological, economical, and dramaturgical," said Martin Voňka, the producer.
Podcast Stage and Rich Supplementary Program
Additionally, visitors to the Metronome Prague festival can look forward to a special podcast stage this year, full of interesting personalities and topics. „I appreciate the opportunity to present my show at the Metronome festival and I'm looking forward to it. A live podcast is something different from sitting quietly in the studio with nobody watching. But that's the magic when you see how people react to you and what you're saying," said Oto Klempíř. His podcast K.O. will be one of those that festival attendees can listen to live. The program also includes podcasts like "My děti ze stanice 2020", "Fakta X", "Nový svět", “Podcast Čestmíra Strakatého'' or the duo "Dobrovský & Šídlo" from the “Paměti národa” production. Kristina Kratochvílová will focus on the topic of the future of music, preparing a series of interviews with guests from the music industry every day.
This year, the Metronome Prague festival has also partnered with the new student project "Creative Campus," which will provide a theatrical program. Visual arts are also an integral part, with visitors being able to view works by sculptors Aneta Filipová and Michal Gabriel at the Křižík pavilions. Michal Škapa will also create a specially commissioned piece for this year's seventh edition of the Metronome Prague festival.
An essential part of the festival is the NGO zone dedicated to non-profit organizations, which will present their activities through various activities. The festival will also feature a debate tent, Opero, where a series of debates on the future will take place every day. For the youngest visitors, there will be sports activities, games, and theater. The children's program is in collaboration with the National Museum, the Goethe Institute, and the company Albi.
The Most Diverse Food and Beverage Offer
In the festival area, there will also be a food zone offering the most diverse selection of food and drinks in the entire festival atmosphere. Visitors can even enjoy draft beer in a glass at one of the beer tents. Fast service at bars and taps is a given. A new cash system from Speedlo will be operational throughout the gastro zone, so there's no need to carry cash – payment cards will take care of everything, including the return of recycled cups. A fantastic experience could be riding the observation wheel with a view of the festival's main stage.
Organizers have upgraded the main stage this year. It now has a total stage area of 533 m2, its roof can hold up to 45 tons for hanging lights, sound, LED screens, and sets, accommodating up to 120 philharmonic musicians.
Janek Ledecký is preparing a special project called "Mr. EVEREST" this year. This project is a special tribute to Bob Dylan, and other famous musicians will also participate. You can enjoy this show during the Saturday program.
You can't do music without a soul. We will fully realize this during the set of the star British singer Michael Kiwanuka, Australian singer Allysha Joy, the incredible discovery of AJ Wander, the ever-brightening star Myles Sanko or the performance of the beloved electronic Kosheen.
Other performances include French keyboardist and theremin player Mezerg and American electronic extrovert Marc Rebillet, among other great artists.
