CARAVAN SALON 2024: Full program for the caravanning community
- Written by Portal Editor
Caravanning stands for self-determined and independent travel in the middle of nature and fulfills people's desire for freedom and individuality like no other form of vacation.
At the CARAVAN SALON from August 30th to September 8th, the mobile dreams of the community will be fulfilled and here the industry will show the entire portfolio from the vehicle to the right vacation destination. Düsseldorf will become the international capital of mobile leisure for ten days and will once again impress with a comprehensive program, special shows, specials and many attractions.
Düsseldorf will become the international capital of mobile leisure for ten days
On 250,000 square meters, over 750 exhibitors will show the latest caravans, motorhomes and campervans as well as accessories, conversion parts, tents, mobile homes, vacation destinations and camping and motorhome pitches. "The development of the leading trade fair for the caravanning industry is impressive. We can once again top the record numbers of the previous year and so we are looking forward to the largest CARAVAN SALON of all time in 2024. Our 16 halls and the outdoor area are fully booked and for our visitors this means above all that the variety of products has increased again. The CARAVAN SALON is more valuable than ever for the industry and especially for end consumers," says a delighted Director Stefan Koschke.
Daniel Onggowinarso, Managing Director of the Caravaning Industry Association (CIVD): "As the largest and most important trade fair in our industry, the CARAVAN SALON is the undisputed highlight of the caravanning year. Nowhere else can visitors delve so deeply into the diverse world of caravanning and experience the latest innovations and product trends up close. This naturally includes the latest vehicle models from caravan and motorhome manufacturers, which traditionally celebrate their premiere at the CARAVAN SALON. But the trade fair is much more than just a showcase for products; it is also an indispensable platform for exchange and dialogue across industry boundaries, as caravanning has undoubtedly developed into a significant tourism and economic factor. We are therefore delighted to be able to welcome numerous representatives from politics, business and science to the trade fair again this year.”
In addition to the exhibitors' activities, there is a varied program in the halls and on the outdoor area and many special topics relating to mobile leisure:
"StarterWorld" in the outdoor area - a must for beginners
The popular StarterWorld is the first port of call for anyone who is just discovering mobile travel for themselves. This year it is located in the outdoor area between halls 10 and 16. During the CARAVAN SALON, it helps newcomers and beginners to find their way around the extensive range of products on offer at the trade fair and to find the right vehicle. Among other things, professionals give recommendations on vehicle types, travel routes or the right choice of campsite and are also available to answer questions. In addition to the personal advice, a varied stage program with all relevant topics on mobile travel provides even more information and inspiration.
Adventure self-construction
The special exhibition "Adventure self-construction" is also in the open-air area and should be the first port of call for the do-it-yourself community and van life fans. Martin Kreplin's team with the magazines explorer & VANderlust provides professional assistance in front of halls 13 and 14 and uses expert knowledge to show what needs to be considered when converting or converting your own motorhome (or caravan). Several self-converted recreational vehicles clearly show what is possible. Daily lectures for beginners, advanced users and professionals provide information on important topics such as workshops and material science, electricity and energy supply, heating and cooking or insulation or floor plan planning.
Dream tour cinema and spectacular EOFT films
This year, too, viewers can experience exciting caravanning destinations in the dream tour cinema in Hall 1 / 1st floor (Room 16). Konstantin Abert, Janette Emerich and Uwe Hamm show visitors impressive impressions of dream countries near and far. This time, the entertaining shows take us to France, Turkey, Iceland, Patagonia and along the Pan-American Highway and TransAfrica.
Faster, higher, further - that is the motto of the European Outdoor Film Tour (EOFT). On the "Travel & Nature CONNECTED" stage in Hall 7, the EOFT crew will give a glimpse into the spectacular diversity of outdoor and adventure sports on Friday, September 6th at 6 p.m. When the protagonists get going, the world is turned upside down - and so is the screen. The EOFT film experience is free for visitors to the CARAVAN SALON.
Model pitch in the open-air area
This year, the Caravaning Industry Association is once again presenting innovative solutions in the field of pitch technology and infrastructure in a special exhibition in the open-air area between Halls 10 and 17. Experts and manufacturers will use concrete examples to demonstrate how the successful planning and operation of motorhome pitches works. Visitors can get advice directly from experts on site.
B2B conference program
At the CARAVAN SALON, however, the focus is no longer just on products and services; in recent years, the trade fair has also developed into an important dialogue platform and networking area. The conference area for professionals and experts is being further expanded under the title "Destination Future 2024". In addition to the established formats "Symposium Nature.Tourism.Future", "German Pitch Day" and "Hiking Forum", four new formats are being implemented: the Camping Destination Day, the networking evening "Travel Industry meets Caravaning", the CARAVAN SALON "InnovationStage" and the Outdoor Host Day, which significantly enhance the B2B program. Various examples and best practices are used to illuminate the development stages on the way to innovative caravanning destinations.
"Camper of the Year 2024"
The ADAC is looking for the "Camper of the Year 2024". The final of the nationwide competition will take place on Saturday, September 7th, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the open-air area in front of Hall 10. Finalists from all over Germany qualified for the final round during the ADAC Camping Days in June and July and must demonstrate their skills in the areas of driving precision, dexterity and camping knowledge in various driving disciplines and several special tasks.
Hall 7: Travel & Nature CONNECTED
The tourism area of the CARAVAN SALON is presenting itself in all its facets for the first time in Hall 7 in the immediate vicinity of the north entrance. Here you will find a variety of dream destinations, attractive camping and parking spaces and perfect caravanning destinations for outdoor activities such as hiking, climbing or biking. The offer in this hall is complemented by an informative and entertaining program on the "Travel & Nature CONNECTED" stage, which invites you to dream and plan your next tours in detail.
E-bike course in front of Hall 15
Cycling is one of the favorite hobbies of many caravanning fans. E-bikes in particular are very popular and are often used for tours between the campsite and the destination. In the open-air area in front of Hall 15, the "E-bike course" offers visitors the opportunity to try out the driving characteristics of electric bikes, e-scooters and electric scooters in a separate area.
Rally for children and adventure camp
For the young trade fair guests, the German Hiking Association, in cooperation with many exhibitors in Hall 7.0, is organizing the rally for children, which invites families to join in and discover at various stations. Equipped with an action card, the kids can explore the hall and solve small puzzles with various exhibitors or prove themselves in a variety of hands-on activities. From the skill game to the popular nature quiz and the search game, there is something for children of all ages. Registration is possible at the stand of the German Hiking Association. At the weekends there are a variety of play and climbing opportunities for young people and children in the Adventure Camp of the Düsseldorf City Sports Association. In the open-air area between Hall 10 and Hall 16, various activity stations invite you to play and have fun.
Caravan Center
If you want to turn your visit to the trade fair into a short vacation, head to the popular Caravan Center in the P1 trade fair car park. During the CARAVAN SALON, Europe's largest parking lot with around 3,500 serviced and unserviced parking spaces brings the community together. Due to the high demand, the parking spaces are limited to 48 hours when booked this year - this will give even more interested people the opportunity to stay overnight at the Caravan Center.
