300 vintage vehicles in the Hessenpark open-air museum

There are over 300 vintage tractors to admire in the open-air museum as part of the tractor meeting on the last weekend in September.

On September 27th and 28th, visitors to the Hessenpark open-air museum can admire hundreds of vintage tractors. Whether large or small, restored or left in their original condition - all tractors that are at least 25 years old are welcome at the tractor meeting. Last year, the 300 mark was broken for the first time with 340 agricultural machines. This makes the tractor meeting, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2014, one of the largest events of its kind in the region. To mark the 15th anniversary, there will be a tractor show for the first time this year. Various tractors will be driven up to provide visitors with interesting information and background knowledge about the tractors themselves and how they are manufactured.

Anyone who owns a tractor that is more than a quarter of a century old is warmly invited to the tractor meet-up in the Hessenpark open-air museum. Registration forms can be downloaded from www.hessenpark.de. Those who decide at short notice can also register on site on the event weekend.

The participants come not only from the immediate area, but also from far away to show their favorite tractor, explain their machine to visitors and talk shop with other owners. Some even travel several hours to get to Neu-Anspach. Such hard work is rewarded: every participant receives free entry to the museum and a commemorative plaque. The most beautiful tractors in their original condition will be awarded, as will the participant who has attended the tractor meet-up most often in recent years. Special prizes will also be given to the tractor that travels the furthest by itself and the club with the most participants.

At selected stands, visitors can purchase "tractor accessories" such as metal tractors, metal signs and tractor books. Pedal tractors are available for the little tractor fans, so they can feel like grown-ups. Steaming potatoes is also popular with museum visitors and is taking place again this year as part of the tractor meet-up. In the past, mobile steaming columns would travel from farm to farm and from place to place to cook the feed potatoes for the pigs under strong steam and thus preserve them for the winter. In the open-air museum, such a steaming column will be in operation on both days and will steam potatoes for hungry visitors.
