Although the sky above the campsite "Unter den Jenzig" part wise showed its autumnal gray, the strong wind was to ensure that the rain clouds were quickly expelled again.

Thus, despite the initially cloudy sky, we had made our way to the Kunitzburg castle ruins, first along the Saaletal to the village of Kunitz, which we had passed the previous day on the way back from Jenzig mountain.

Then we hiked from Kunitz along the well signposted path along the wine fields, .....

...... then through the dense beech forest, continuously uphill.

Again and again photo stops were necessary on the way in order to capture the autumn bloom in the picture.

But other works of art of nature showed themselves very photogenic too, as this dead and weathered tree trunk shows, no question.

At all, there were some deadwood areas along the way, which were left to natural decay.

It is always astonishing how creatively artistic nature shows itself, what all is to be seen, it is just a dead tree trunk.
