By bike to the healthy sources of Bad Bibra

Extensive forest areas, rolling hills, deeply cut stream valleys and well-developed cycling and hiking trails in the region around Bad Bibra invite you to relax and be active on foot or by bike. So we were again on our bikes in Bad Bibra, now that the foliage is showing wonderful colours.
The town of Bad Bibra is located in the western Burgenland district. It is in the northern Thuringian foreland between wooded mountains in the south and sloping fields in the north, where the Steinbach and Saubach flow together to form the Biberbach.
After many strokes of fate in the past (war, water, fire), which deprived the city of the fruits of years of reconstruction work, a change for the better occurred in 1875, because the spa and bathing industry in the village took off again.
In particular, the emergence of health teaching according to Sebastian Kneipp is conveyed through guided tours and a Kneipp information centre to this day. There are some Kneipp water facilities in the town centre and along the walking paths.
At the bathing area there is a pavilion built in 1879, which covered the then bubbling Gesundbrunnen.
In 1925 the city was awarded the title "Bad". The bathing operation was maintained until the 1950s, but later had to be stopped due to a lack of the necessary mineral content in the springs.
In recent years, many areas have been modernized and renovated in order to make the stay more pleasant for the population and visitors and to guarantee good relaxation. Bad Bibra has the most modern outdoor adventure pool in Saxony-Anhalt with many attractions.
On May 17, 2003, the newly designed bathing area with its Kneipp treading pool and arm bathing pool and the Kneipp treading pool at Bärenplatz were inaugurated for the first Kneipp and bathing day. A fitness center and the tennis court also offer the opportunity for sporting activities. The local associations ensure a lively cultural life. Due to the charm of the beautiful landscape and the pleasant climate, Bad Bibra is ideal for a holiday in a quiet location, with extensive hikes in wooded areas and fresh air.
On the occasion of the first Kneipp and bathing day, the newly renovated Gesundbrunnen and the bath house stone were handed over. In Bad Bibra, healing water is being drilled again and the construction of a new spa park is being prepared. The bike tour along the bathing facilities is not only interesting because of the route.
