Barkeler Busch - A walk through nature
- Written by Portal Editor
Still minus temperatures at night with white, hoarfrost covered cars in the morning, but the warming sun is already appearing in the bright blue sky over Schortens.
A crazy weather situation that deterred some Easter visitors from setting off because of the news from the far north.
However, the sun lured us outside and so in the early afternoon we went to the Barkeler Busch, a manageable forest area on the outskirts with beautiful, small lakes in the drinking water protection area of Schortens.
And it was a wonderful walk together with Laura, time to unwind, talk to each other at length and enjoy the surroundings.
Despite the snowfall of the last few days, the paths were already well dried again, so that there were hardly any puddles on the path.
The two lakes in the middle of the forest area were still half frozen, only the large lake in the direction of Sillenstede was completely free of ice.
Of course there were a large number of waterfowl frolicking on the lake. Too far away to photograph them and the large telephoto lens was not included.
A young married couple was traveling with their two children to follow a local tradition: looking for Easter eggs in the forest.
One of the parents had probably already made the trip in the morning to find hiding places for hard-boiled and painted Easter eggs or chocolate eggs and to hide the little treats that the children then had to look for in the afternoon.
We were lucky that we met the family twice during our walk, who had already "found something" and were resting on the shore of the lake. One of the two children then offered us some of the Easter presents that we had found, so that we sat down for a moment on the gnarled tree roots on the lake shore.
Only a few hundred meters further on we met a rider who was riding along the lake shore on the back of a white Shetland pony. Here, too, we were quickly involved in a short conversation, because the rider asked for some prints of our pictures of herself and her horse, which we wanted to email to her later.
How relaxed and friendly people can be, they are given a few days to relax and pursue their private interests. It is always interesting to look at these connections.
We had taken a number of photos in the meantime and noticed the coolness that occurred due to the setting sun. So we made our way back, not without continuing to marvel at the impressive shadow play of the trees on the calm lake water. A short excursion in the afternoon with many new impressions and observations.
When was the last time you went for a relaxing walk in nature?
