Camper Cultural trip through Albania - Macedonia - Greece

For more than two years, we have been traveling around the Balkans and Turkey within our project work "A journey of Intimacy and Culture along the Roman Roads".

We have learned many interesting places and sights, incredibly warm and lovely people and wonderful camping facilities, which we would like to share with you, dear readers and travelers. In conversations with campers, however, there were still resentments in regard to the targeted countries like Albania and Macedonia, and even Greece, which we would like to counteract, especially to promote alternative tourism to the benefit of the local population. Because of that we decided to prepare a part wise guided camper-trip through Albania and Macedonia as part of the project and to present it at Fendt-Caravan stand (Hall 1, Stand 1A12) from 14th to 22nd January 2017 at CMT Stuttgart to interested campers. As Albania is partner country of CMT fair this year and at a time when Albania is slowly becoming more and more a part of the travel industry, so far not too much crowded, it can be interesting to discover, even part wise guided.

As indicated in the complete program, the route passes through the countries of Albania, here we start at Shkodar, then Kruja, Tirana, Durres, Elbasan and continue to Macedonia (with Struga, Ohrid, Stobi and Bitola) and Greece (Edessa, Meteora, Thessalonica) along various intermediate stations. We will learn from the different cultures that once formed this region. A large number of ancient places and cities as well as natural landscapes will inspire you.

The special feature of our journeys is the combination of cultural impressions with extensive landscape experiences and relaxing togetherness. This includes walks and picnics at selected places, where we can let the landscape, the peace and the special quality of the place affect us. Traveling also means asking yourself questions about the present, the current political and social situation of the tourist region and dipping into the recent past, so that the image of a region is cleared up. Travel, however, also means meeting people, exchanging ideas and gaining a sense of life in a distant country. There is time and space to spend on these topics too.

Who do not know us so far: We are a Turkish-German team with more than 10 years of life and travel experience in the Balkans and in Turkey, which is part of the cultural project, the concept of the wintering with introductory or subsequent round trips and part wise guided tour crossing the Balkans and Turkey. All the above mentioned places have already been approached several times with our own vehicle, all tours have been migrated several times, so this can be of outstanding local knowledge. Local German or English speaking hiking guides are also available.

The planned, guided tour will take you from Shkodar via Tirana, Durres, Elbasan in Albania, Struga and Ohrid on the lake of the same name, Stobi, Bitola in Macedonia and Vergina, Meteora and Thessalonica in Greece.

The travel services will include:
      - all accommodation units including electricity, water and internet
      - all tours and hikes offered during the program
      - Entrance fees according to the program
      - Additional use of small busses as required
      - all additional costs incurred for parking fees, tolls etc. according to the program
      - Routes with coordinates, also as a suggestion for the journey
      - Tipping fee for the restaurants
      - German or English speaking travel companion

The following services are taken over by the participants:
     - all travel expenses to the departure point in Shkodar (just 200 kilometers to the well-known resort of Dubrovnik / Croatia)
     - all return travel costs / additional accommodation costs from the tour end in Thessalonica
     - all costs incurred during the round trip of fuel or other operating resources. This also applies repairs of the vehicles.
     - Insurance for vehicle and participating persons
     - Passport and green insurance card
     - the advantage would be the presence of your own bicycle
