19th EMITT Exhibition Launch - congress tourism and sports
Creating a difference with new countries and big innovations. Listed as 5th biggest tourism exhibition of the world, EMITT shall include congress tourism and outdoor sports in its special halls.
The East Mediterranean International Tourism and Travel Exhibition (EMITT) is getting ready to introduce congress tourism and outdoor sports to its agenda. The 19th edition of EMITT will be held 22 - 25 January 2015 in Istanbul, Turkey.
EMITT 2015 will, for the first time, have a reserved hall for MICE tourism. International meetings, incentives, conferences and event service providers, including: event organisers, hotels and congress centres, shall have the opportunity to introduce their offerings to Turkey’s MICE tourism buyers.
Hacer Aydin, EMITT Event Director, comments: “Congress tourism is of growing importance in Turkey, reaching 1,918,179 people in 2012. Currently Turkey ranks 14th in Europe and 23rd worldwide in terms of congress tourism - 159 international companies operate in this sector.” Aydin further stated: “There is great potential for MICE tourism to flourish in Turkey, especially in the cities of Istanbul and Antalya where the infrastructure, culture and geography is ideal of business tourism.”
Outdoor and nature sports will be included in the winter tourism hall at EMITT 2015. Both domestic and international facility providers of outdoor sports and recreation will showcase their range of tourism attractions. Services to be on display include: canoeing, trekking, bungee jumping, water sports, caravan destinations, snowboarding, skydiving and much more.
Aydin states: Turkey is a destination for outdoor tourism. Not only are Turkish people venturing aboard for outdoor activities, many are visiting the domestic attractions, which include such attractions as road trekking and mountain climbing in Antaly to camping in the Kabak Valley.
EMITT Exhibition was first held in year 1997 at Istanbul TÜYAP Tepebaşı Fair Center with the name Voyager – International Tourism and Holiday Exhibition. The Exhibition which was held with the name Voyager in 1998 grew very fast in its third year and it moved to TÜYAP Beylikdüzü in 1999, where it was held in 4 halls and a total area of 7000 m2. Since 1999, the exhibition is being held under the name of EMITT – Eastern Mediterranean International Tourism and Travel Exhibition. EMITT Exhibition, which drew a lot of attention from regional countries and international tourism society, did not only grew in terms of number of countries that attend, number of stands or the area it is being held but also became to reflect the tourism sector in Turkey. Bringing in many innovations, EMITT Exhibition has managed to be the 5th biggest tourism exhibition in Europe over 15 years. The exhibition plans to bring various projects into life both domestic and foreign in the years to come. Being one of the significant exhibition organizations in the world, ITE Group PLC joined among the partners of Ekin Fuar A.Ş. in 2009.
